Spendee is a well-known budgeting app from Prague, with a clean design, bank sync, and shared wallets on iPhone, Android, and the web. But it isn't for everyone. Some people don't want another account, or to hand their bank login to a third party. Others find that the features they want, like bank sync or receipt scanning, sit behind Spendee Premium, or want an app that logs spending faster with Siri, Apple Pay, and Apple Watch. If that sounds like you, here's an honest look at how Fineyo compares, what each app does better, and how to switch.
Quick answer: Choose Fineyo if you use an iPhone and want a fast, private budget app with no account and no bank login, budgets you can fully share with a partner over iCloud, and deep Apple integration: Siri, Apple Pay automation, widgets, and a full Apple Watch app, with a one-time lifetime option. Choose Spendee if you want transactions pulled from your bank automatically, need an Android or web app, want to track e-wallets like PayPal or crypto wallets, or want receipts read for you.

Why people look for a Spendee alternative
Spendee is a polished app with years of history. People who switch usually want something different, not just something better:
- No account and no bank login. Spendee stores your finances on its servers, and bank sync runs through Salt Edge and Plaid. Some people would rather keep their money only on their own devices.
- Key features behind Premium. Bank sync, e-wallets, and Magic AI Scan need Spendee Premium. The free plan has one cash wallet and one budget.
- Sharing that stops at the wallet. Spendee shares a cash wallet, but not budgets, and not bank accounts.
- Faster logging on iPhone. Fineyo is built around adding an expense in seconds, with Siri, Shortcuts, Apple Pay, the Action Button, voice, and Apple Watch, which Spendee doesn't have.
- Bank sync that doesn't fit. Bank connections depend on your bank and country, and they can break or need logging in again. Some people prefer logging each expense themselves, because it helps them notice what they spend.
Privacy and your data
This is the biggest difference between the two apps.
Fineyo has no account, no sign-up, and no server storing your finances. Your transactions stay on your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. Shared spaces use Apple's iCloud sharing, so even a shared budget never passes through a Fineyo server. Fineyo AI and the notification automation run on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence, so nothing you say or receive is sent to Fineyo. See how Fineyo handles your data.
Spendee needs a Spendee account and keeps your data on its servers, which is what lets it sync to Android and the web. Its privacy policy says its database servers are in the EU (Belgium) and the US, and lists processors including Google, Facebook, Salt Edge, Plaid, Mailgun, Zendesk, and Sendinblue. If you connect a bank, your account details, balance, and transactions come in through Salt Edge or Plaid. Receipts you scan are processed by AI models run by its partner Cleevio. The policy also describes profiling based on details like your family status, housing, and income, for personalization and, if you agree, for ads. And to comply with Czech anti-money-laundering law, Spendee's help center says it may ask for your nationality, personal ID, and address.
Neither approach is wrong. Spendee trades some privacy for bank sync and access from any device. Fineyo keeps everything with you and Apple, so you add transactions yourself or let your iPhone do it.
Shared budgets for couples and families
Both apps let you manage money with a partner, and in both only one person needs to pay. They work quite differently, though.
Spendee uses shared wallets. The owner, on Plus or Premium, invites people by email to a cash wallet, and everyone can add, edit, and delete its transactions. But budgets aren't shared: each member sets up their own, and a free member is still limited to one. The wallet uses the owner's categories, and bank wallets can't be shared yet.
Fineyo uses Spaces. Create a shared space for your household, partner, or a trip, and invite anyone with a link over iCloud. Everyone sees and edits the same accounts, budgets, and transactions in real time, so you work toward the same budget together. The Overview shows how much each person spent or earned, and every transaction shows who added it. You can have several spaces, like one for home and one for a holiday, while your Personal space stays private. Creating a space needs Fineyo Pro, but people who join don't need it, get unlimited accounts and budgets inside that space, and there's no limit on members or spaces.
If you want one shared budget that both partners track against, Fineyo is built for it. If your partner uses Android, Spendee is the only one of the two that works for both of you.
Adding transactions
Spendee can import transactions from more than 2,500 banks and financial providers with Premium, and categorizes them automatically. You can also add cash expenses by hand, with a photo, location, and labels, or scan a receipt with Magic AI Scan.
Fineyo has no bank sync, so it makes logging as fast as possible instead:
- Manual entry in seconds. A minimal flow for expenses, income, and transfers.
- Apple Pay automation. A Shortcuts automation logs every tap-to-pay purchase. See Apple Pay automation.
- Bank notification automation. Fineyo reads payment notifications from your bank app on your iPhone, so it also catches online and card payments.
- Voice with Fineyo AI. Say "Groceries 32 at Lidl" and it becomes a transaction. See voice input.
- Siri and Shortcuts. Log an expense without opening the app. See Siri and Shortcuts.
- Back Tap, the Action Button, and Control Center. See Quick add.
- Apple Watch. Log from your wrist, even when your iPhone isn't nearby.
These automations are free in Fineyo. If your bank works with Spendee and you want every transaction imported for you, Spendee does that better. If you want logging that's quick and stays on your phone, Fineyo is built for it.
Budgets and planning
Spendee offers budgets with progress alerts and a daily spending allowance, charts of where your money comes from and goes, labels, and scheduled transactions for bills. Its web app adds bulk editing and more filters. With Premium, you can also follow PayPal and crypto wallets next to your bank accounts.
Fineyo lets you set an overall budget or one per category for a day, week, month, year, or trip. You see your progress live, how much you can still spend each day, and past periods. Recurring payments like rent and subscriptions log themselves, with a reminder the day before. Insights compare months, break down categories, and project your spending, and a monthly report sums up where your money went. The spending map shows where you spent. See budgets and recurring transactions.
Spendee goes further if you want e-wallets and crypto in the same place. Fineyo focuses on spending, income, and budgets.
Currencies and travel
Both apps support multiple currencies.
Fineyo supports 80+ currencies, with daily exchange rate updates and a travel currency on Pro, so new expenses on a trip default to the local currency while your totals stay in your main one. A shared trip space plus a travel currency makes group holidays easy to track. See currencies and travel.
Spendee lets you keep wallets in different currencies and is available in 27 languages. Fineyo is available in 30+.
Apple Watch, widgets, and Siri
This is where Fineyo pulls ahead on iPhone:
- Apple Watch app with spending, budgets, balances, and logging from your wrist, plus complications for your watch face. Spendee has no Apple Watch app.
- Widgets for the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. See widgets.
- Ask Siri how much you spent this week or what's left in a budget. See Ask Siri.
Both apps support Face ID and hiding amounts on screen.
Platforms
Spendee runs on iPhone and Android, with a web app at app.spendee.com, and its iPhone app also runs on Macs with Apple silicon and Apple Vision Pro. That makes it a good choice for mixed iPhone and Android households.
Fineyo is for iPhone and Apple Watch. iPad and Mac versions are coming soon, and there's no Android or web version. It works offline, and syncs over iCloud when you're back online. See offline use.
Pricing
Both apps are free to download.
Spendee's free plan includes one cash wallet and one budget. Spendee Plus adds unlimited wallets and budgets and shared wallets, from $14.99 a year on Spendee's website. Spendee Premium adds bank sync, e-wallets and crypto, and Magic AI Scan, for $5.99 a month or $35.99 a year in the US. Spendee also sells a one-time Lifetime Premium in the app.
Fineyo's free plan includes 1 account, 1 budget, up to 10 categories, and 3 recurring transactions. Siri and Shortcuts logging, the Apple Pay and bank notification automations, CSV import, and multiple currencies are free for everyone. Fineyo Pro removes the limits and adds Spaces, the spending map, receipt photos, all widgets, the full Apple Watch app, iCloud backup, and CSV export. In the US App Store it costs $3.99 a month, $24.99 a year, or $44.99 once for lifetime access, and works with Family Sharing. See Fineyo Pro.
If you only need multiple wallets and sharing, Spendee Plus costs less per year than Fineyo Pro. If you want automatic logging, Fineyo gives you that for free, while Spendee's bank sync needs Premium. And with Fineyo's lifetime option, two years of Fineyo costs $44.99, against about $72 for Spendee Premium yearly.
Where Spendee is the better choice
Fineyo isn't the right app for everyone. Spendee is a better fit if you:
- Want transactions imported automatically from your bank.
- Use Android, share money with someone who does, or want a web app.
- Track PayPal, other e-wallets, or crypto wallets.
- Want receipts read into transactions for you.
Who should choose Fineyo
Fineyo is a better fit if you:
- Use an iPhone, and maybe an Apple Watch.
- Don't want to create an account or connect your bank.
- Want to share one budget with a partner or family privately, over iCloud.
- Want to log spending in seconds with a tap, your voice, Siri, or Apple Pay.
- Spend in several currencies, for travel or living abroad.
- Want to pay once instead of subscribing.
How to switch from Spendee to Fineyo
Spendee has a built-in export, so moving your history takes about 10 minutes.
- Export from Spendee. In the Spendee iPhone or Android app, go to More → Export, choose all wallets or the ones you want, pick a period, and select CSV. Free Spendee users can export the last 365 days; Plus and Premium have no limit. Export isn't available in Spendee's web app.
- Check the file. Open it in Numbers, Excel, or Google Sheets. Make sure there's one row per transaction with a Date and an Amount, with expenses as negative numbers. Category, Description, Account, and Payee columns are optional but useful. If you exported several wallets, keep the wallet column so you can match it to Account.
- Import into Fineyo. In Fineyo, go to Settings → Import data, select the file, match the columns, then tap Validate and Import.
- Recreate your shared wallets. If you shared a Spendee wallet, create a space in Fineyo and invite them. They join for free.
A few things to know:
- Transfers between your own wallets come in as plain income or expenses. You may want to remove them before importing.
- Scheduled transactions come in as one-off transactions. Set them up again as recurring transactions in Fineyo.
- Categories, accounts, and payees that don't exist yet are created for you. To keep your Spendee labels, match that column to Tags during import, and they become tags.
- Bank connections don't carry over. Set up the Apple Pay and bank notification automations to keep logging automatic. Then disconnect your banks in Spendee and cancel your subscription if you no longer need it.
The import guide explains every column, date formats, foreign currencies, and fixes for common errors.
FAQ
Is Fineyo a good alternative to Spendee?
Yes, if you use an iPhone and want a private budget app with no account and no bank connection. Fineyo keeps your data on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, shares whole budgets with a partner through Spaces, and logs spending with Siri, Apple Pay, bank notifications, voice, and Apple Watch. If you need automatic bank sync, an Android or web app, or crypto wallet tracking, Spendee is the better fit.
Can I share a budget with my partner in Fineyo, like in Spendee?
Yes, and more fully. In Spendee, you share a cash wallet, but each member keeps their own separate budget, and bank wallets can't be shared. In Fineyo, a Pro user creates a shared space and invites anyone over iCloud. Everyone sees and edits the same accounts, budgets, and transactions. People who join don't need Fineyo Pro, and there's no limit on members.
Does Fineyo connect to banks like Spendee?
No. Fineyo has no bank connections. Instead, Shortcuts automations can log Apple Pay purchases and payment notifications from your bank app automatically, read on your iPhone. You can also add transactions by tapping, by voice, with Siri, or by importing a CSV file.
Is Fineyo cheaper than Spendee?
It depends on the plan. In the US in October 2026, Spendee Premium, which includes bank sync, costs $5.99 a month or $35.99 a year, and Spendee Plus starts at $14.99 a year. Fineyo Pro costs $3.99 a month, $24.99 a year, or $44.99 once for lifetime access. Fineyo's free plan already includes Apple Pay and bank notification automations, Siri, and multiple currencies. Prices vary by country.
Do I need an account to use Fineyo?
No. Fineyo has no sign-up and no Fineyo account. Your data stays on your iPhone and syncs through your own iCloud. Spendee needs a Spendee account, created with an email address, Apple, Google, or Facebook.
Can I move my data from Spendee to Fineyo?
Yes. In the Spendee app, go to More → Export, choose your wallets and period, and export as CSV. Then import the file in Fineyo under Settings → Import data. Free Spendee users can export the last 365 days; Plus and Premium have no date limit. Import into Fineyo is free.
Does Fineyo work on Android or the web like Spendee?
No. Fineyo is made for iPhone and Apple Watch, with iPad and Mac versions coming soon. If you or your partner use Android, or you want to manage your budget in a browser, Spendee is the better choice.
Can Fineyo scan receipts like Spendee?
Fineyo Pro lets you attach receipt photos to transactions, but it doesn't read them into a transaction. Spendee Premium's Magic AI Scan does. For fast entry, Fineyo relies on voice, Siri, and Apple Pay automation instead.
