Your data is yours, and Fineyo makes it easy to take it with you. Export creates a spreadsheet of your transactions. iCloud backup saves a full copy of everything, so you can restore it later or on a new iPhone.
Both are part of Fineyo Pro.
Backup or export: which do I need?
| iCloud backup | CSV export | |
|---|---|---|
| Contains | Everything, including settings and receipt photos | Transactions for one space and period |
| Opens in | Fineyo | Numbers, Excel, Google Sheets |
| Best for | Restoring Fineyo or moving to a new iPhone | Spreadsheets, your accountant, your own records |
Export transactions to CSV
- Go to Settings → Export data.
- Pick a period: This month, Last month, This year, Last year, or All.
- Save the file
fineyo_transactions.csvto Files, AirDrop it to your Mac, or send it by Mail.
Each row is one transaction, with its date, amount in your main currency (expenses negative), currencies and exchange rate, type, category, account, payee, tags, note, and how often it repeats.
Good to know
- Only the space that's open is exported. Switch spaces to export another one.
- Column names follow the app's language.
- Receipt photos, locations, and times aren't included.
Back up to iCloud
Turn on automatic backups
- Make sure iCloud Drive is on in your iPhone's Settings.
- In Fineyo, go to Settings → iCloud backup.
- Turn on Enable iCloud backup. Fineyo makes the first backup right away.
From then on, Fineyo backs up each time you open the app. You can also tap Backup now at any time.
What's included
Transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, tags, payees, recurring transactions, currency settings, and photos attached to transactions.
Not included:
- Shared spaces. They come back through iCloud sharing, as long as you're still a member.
- Device-only settings like Face ID lock.
- Your Fineyo Pro purchase, which is tied to your Apple Account. Use Restore on the Pro screen.
How many backups are kept
Fineyo keeps one backup per day (a new one replaces that day's earlier one) and your 10 most recent backups. You'll find them under Recent backups. Swipe left on one to delete it.
Restore a backup
- Go to Settings → iCloud backup.
- Tap a backup under Recent backups.
- Confirm with Import. Fineyo restarts with the restored data.
Restoring replaces everything currently in Fineyo on this iPhone. Anything added after that backup is lost. Not sure? Tap Backup now first, so you can return to your current data.
Move to a new iPhone
- On your old iPhone, go to Settings → iCloud backup, tap Backup now, and wait for Backup completed.
- On the new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account and turn on iCloud Drive.
- Install and open Fineyo. With Fineyo Pro, your latest backup is restored automatically.
- If it isn't, finish setup, then restore it from Settings → iCloud backup → Recent backups. If Fineyo Pro isn't recognized yet, tap Restore on the Pro screen first.
If you restored your whole iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, Fineyo's data usually comes along and there's nothing to do.
Troubleshooting
"iCloud is not set up." Open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and turn on iCloud Drive.
"iCloud storage is full." Free up iCloud space or upgrade your iCloud plan, then tap Backup now. Fineyo also needs about 50 MB free on the iPhone itself.
"Backup failed." Check that you're online and iCloud Drive is on, then try Backup now again after a few seconds.
I don't see any backups on my new iPhone. Check you're using the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on. The list can take a few minutes to appear on a new device, so leave the screen and come back.
The export shows up as one long column in Excel. In Excel, use Data → From Text/CSV and choose comma as the separator, or open the file in Numbers or Google Sheets.
